The Orchard

My name is Eileen Murphy and welcome to our family home, The Orchard. I am now 25 years in the business of taking care of people, so I have built up great experiences over the years.

Our home is a 100 year old, Traditional Country House. We are overlooking farmlands. A warm welcome awaits you, with tea or coffee and some homemade Guinness Cake on arrival. All our rooms are en suite and are spacious, warm and comfortable.

Tea and Coffee making facilities are in the lounge and you may use them any time. You may also raid the cake tin where you will always find my store of Guinness Cake. Keep it fresh by eating it!

Eileen was the perfect hostess!

Very accommodating, a lovely sense of humor, and a fantastic cook! Breakfast foods, tea, & coffee were lovingly prepared each morning. She always made Irish brown bread and an assortment of her own jams and jellies a part of the meal!

Everything was delicious! She was also flexible with our schedule if we needed to leave early for sightseeing. Also, it is well lit for when arriving when it is dark outside. You won't regret your stay here.

We called at the last minute because we were just wondering around Ireland, and Eileen told us to come on over! Since it was winter, there was only one other young couple there, and they were also very nice. She gave us a huge traditional Irish breakfast, with five different homemade jams, and homemade Irish soda bread. She also directed us to a very nice restaurant nearby for dinner before we retired for the night. I highly recommend this lovely place.

We loved our stay here. We arrived late in afternoon. We were greeted by Eileen and felt very welcome instantly. Eileen gave us valuable diections to a great pub for food. The room was comfortable snd so was the bed. Eileen provided a beautiful hot breakfast complete with "damper"( aussies call it this). The room was clean and very nice. We highly recommend staying here.

I stayed here this summer with 8 family members and it became like home for the week we stayed. We had odd schedules and moved rooms a few times, and Eileen took it all in stride. Eileen is a wonderful host, delicious griddle cake baker, and kind, helpful woman! This past week I bought some griddle cake mix and I know it will be nothing even close to the breakfast I had each morning at The Orchard! Next time we're back to visit family we will definitely stay here again!
